Crock Pot Quickie: Beef Roast
What You Will Need:
Crock Pot
1 Medium Chuck Roast
8 Beef Bouillon Cubes
1 Medium Onion
1 tsp Salt
Water
3 Large Peeled Potatoes (Optional)
1 Large Carrot (Optional)
Directions:
Slice onion thinly and in its normal circular shape. Place Chuck Roast, Bouillon Cubes, Sliced Onion and Salt in Crock Pot. Add water so that it is approx an inch from top of the Crock Pot. Turn on low and let cook for 6 hours and add potatoes and carrots, cook for an additional 4 hours. you may also cook on medium heat for 4 hours and add potatoes and carrots, cook for an additional 4 hours, if you desire a shorter cook time.
Approx Prep Time: 8 minutes
Note: If you are going to leave unattended for the entire cook time, DO NOT add potatoes or carrots in the beginning of cook time. The potatoes and carrots will become extremely mushy and the starches will ruin the Roast. Instead look below at these different side dish options. :)
Side Dish Suggestions: Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Peas, Green Beans, Steamed Carrots, Boiled Potatoes
Also If you would like to make a gravy to use for a mashed potato side dish or to just drizzle over the top of your meat here is a quick and easy gravy that requires only one extra ingredient.
Gravy Directions: Remove any Meat and Vegetables from your Crock Pot. Pour water that you cooked your roast into a large non stick sauce pan, bring to a boil, reduce to medium heat and add flour, while adding flour you must stir constantly as fast as you can until gravy is the consistency that you desire. Amount of flour just depends on how much of the water you have left from you roast.
Thank You for reading and I hope you enjoy. It is my husband's favorite and it is so quick and easy. Especially if you are always to busy to cook a nice meal.
